Bankruptcy Education

Filing for bankruptcy is a serious decision with severe consequences. FSC helps consumers understand both the benefits and challenges of declaring bankruptcy.

Any individual who plans to file for bankruptcy is required to complete a pre-filing counseling session by a credit counseling agency approved by the U.S. Department of Justice. Additionally, potential filers are required to take part in an approved follow-up personal financial education course before his/her debts can be discharged. FSC is approved by the United States Trustees to issue certificates for Pre-filing Credit Counseling and Pre-discharge Education in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code.
